YAHOOGROUPS.NUOMEGAQUES.COM | WWW.NUOMEGA.COM 2015, Issue #1 News for Ques The Quesletter FACEBOOK.COM/MOTORCITYQUES @MOTORCITYQUES INSTAGRAM.COM/MOTORCITYQUES LINKEDIN.COM/MOTORCITYQUES SOCIALLY ACTIVE Nu Omega chapter had a very productive 2014 campaign in relation to community service. Many may not realize that the chapter is involved in two monthly activities in which anyone can participate. e first is C.O.T.S (Coalition On Temporary Shelter). is project takes place on the first Saturday of each month from approximately 7:20am until about 8:30am at 26 Peterboro in Detroit (only a few minutes away from the Fraternity House off of Woodward). Brothers have been serving hot breakfast to the less fortunate since 2008 and will continue to do so. is service opportunity is open to anyone who wishes to participate. e second monthly activity is our effort with Gleaners Food Bank. is project takes place the 3rd Saturday of each month starting at 8:30am and ending around 11am at Greater Emmanuel Church at 19190 Schaefer (corner of 7 Mile and Schaefer). is project involves Brothers sorting, packing, and distributing food boxes to the less fortunate. Again, anyone who wants to participate is more than welcomed to do so. During the anksgiving and Christmas holidays, Nu Omega chapter has traditionally distributed food baskets for families deemed needy in the city of Detroit for several years. 2014 saw a great number of families taken care of by our beloved chapter. Under the leadership of former Basileus Marquis Sagnia, Nu Omega blessed over 40 families for anksgiving and over 50 for the Christmas holiday. Another jewel in our social action crown in 2014 was our participation at the 2nd Annual Red Carpet Backyard BBQ for the homeless, which took place in Detroit at the Masonic Temple. is huge event was put on by several different agencies and served well over 300 needy individuals. Over 20 Brothers sacrificed their time and gave their efforts to be a part of this grand cause. Brothers worked in capacities such as; food service, food coordination, food distribution, security, and inventory coordination. Event coordinator Belinda Cunningham, was extremely excited that the men of Nu omega participated in the event. "It was such an honor and a pleasure to work with the phenomenal, community oriented, family focused, intelligent, and strong, men of Omega Psi Phi. THE greatest fraternity in the world!!!" Brothers, this is just a glimpse at what YOUR chapter is doing in the community. You are urged to GET INVOLVED! Bro. Derone Buffington is our current Social Action chairman and he is always looking for enthusiastic Brothers to be involved in upcoming projects, as well as projects that are currently ongoing. Brothers, at times we get caught up in the daily routines of our own "busy" lives. We must not forget that however fortunate we are, there are those who are just that much more unfortunate. It is our duty as sons of Omega to help our fellow man. To be our brother's keeper should be the goal of every man. e projects that we are involved in every month do not take much time or effort so, please make it a point to do your part. Le to Right: (Bro. D. Capers, Bro. M. Sagnia, Bro. L. Lee, Bro. K. Nyame, Bro. D. Shackelford, Bro. D. Triplett, Bro. D. Buffington)
